Acknowledged
as one of the toughest competitors in the game, a feared
ruck-rover who was appointed captain at the start of 1994 but
stood down after round 6 when he felt the added responsibility
would affect his play.
Always at the
base of packs, Hocking played a gutsy, unrelenting style of
football capped off with great skill. He would regularly find
the ball and rack up huge posession tallies.
Buddah was the
lifeblood of the Cats for more than a decade.
